How to Clean a Porcelain Airstone Stove

Airstone is a type of lightweight concrete that looks similar in appearance to concrete and has a weight of about 20 percent of normal concrete. It's used indoors and outdoors as a durable masonry material. In addition to being used for indoor and outdoor fireplaces, Airstone can also be used to build grill and outdoor stove surrounds. A porcelain-coated stove top requires the same type of cleaning whether indoors or outdoors. With proper care and cleaning methods, you can make your porcelain surface last as long as the Airstone structure.

Instructions

    • 1
A soft sponge won't scratch porcelain.

Dampen a sponge with water. Squeeze out the excess moisture.

    • 2

Wipe fresh spills off as quickly as possible with the damp sponge to prevent them from becoming baked-on.

    • 3

Sprinkle baking soda onto the damp sponge to tackle dried or baked-on stains. Apply a little elbow grease, if necessary, and scrub the dried stain with the mild abrasive.

    • 4

Rinse the porcelain stove top surface by wiping it off with a damp cloth to remove baking soda residue. Dry the surface with another cloth.

    • 5

Wet two or three paper towels with full-strength bleach to remove dye stains from food and beverages. Lay the wet paper towels directly over the discolored area. Allow them to sit on the porcelain surface for five to 10 minutes.

    • 6

Lift the bleach-soaked towels off the porcelain stove top when the stain is gone and discard them. Dry your porcelain surface with paper towels.
