How to Troubleshoot a Viking 901

The Husqvarna Viking Huskylock 901 is an all-in-one sewing machine. It's capable of four-, three- and two-thread sewing, has an adjustable cutting width, a foot presser for convenient operation and a scrap catcher to keep things neat. If your 901 malfunctions, it's good to know how to troubleshoot it to avoid taking it to the shop.

Instructions

    • 1

Test the alignment of springs, disks and joints. Tighten any loose parts by turning clockwise until they're snug.

    • 2

Check the machine needle. It may have become inadvertently bent or worn down with time. Try to manually unbend it with your hand or replace it with a new one.

    • 3

Unplug the machine and let it cool down if you've been using it for a while. The 901 may overheat or otherwise malfunction during periods of extended, heavy use.

    • 4

Check the bobbin thread. Reseat the bobbin in the case if it's loose and rethread the bobbin.

    • 5

Adjust the thread tension or change thread order if your 901 is skipping stitches. Also check to ensure you're using the correct size spool.

    • 6

Give your 901 a once-over cleaning. Clean thread from the shuttle, clean the bobbin case and blow dust out of the feed dogs.
