What Temperature Can a Calphalon Pot Withstand?

Calphalon is the manufacturer of pots and pans for professional chefs and at-home cooks. The company uses tempered glass and stainless steel for pots and pans designed for use on the stove and plain stainless steel for baking dishes and cookie sheets. The temperature each pan withstands relates to the product line, as different designs withstand different temperatures.
  1. Contemporary Stainless Line

    • The contemporary stainless line from Calphalon uses stainless steel for the handle and pans. The tri-ply line uses multiple layers in each pan, which creates an even cooking surface. The pots and pans in the contemporary line are dishwasher-safe, broiler-safe and safe for use in the oven. The manufacturer guarantees that the pots can withstand a temperature of up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Calphalon Simply Line

    • Pots and pans in the Simply line use stainless steel and have a brushed look rather than the glossy surface found in the other lines. The nonstick version features an anodized aluminum coating on the bottom of each pan that keeps food from sticking during the cooking process. According to the manufacturer, the pots and pans are safe for the dishwasher, but not for the broiler. The pans are safe for use in the oven, provided the oven temperature is 400 degrees or less.

    Bakeware

    • In addition to pots and pans for oven and stovetop use, Calphalon also manufactures bakeware for use in the oven. The company's bakeware line includes cookie sheets, roasting pans, jelly pans and brownie or cake pans. The pans are safe for use in the oven at temperatures up to 450 degrees. Not all pans are safe for use in the broiler. The company recommends not using the cupcake pan and angel food cake pan in the broiler.

    Warning

    • Always read the use and care recommendations included with the purchase of a new Calphalon pan. The paperwork gives you the exact temperature recommended for each pan, as well as the types of utensils recommended for use in the pans.
