How to Keep Stick on Letters Straight

People use stick-on letters for a variety of reasons and purposes. Many different companies manufacture and sell stick-on letters in various sizes, styles, fonts and colors. Most companies that produce them make the letters from vinyl and attach them to paper. The paper used is a special type that allows people to easily remove the stickers from the paper without the letters getting stuck on the paper. When applying stick-on letters, be cautious when removing them from the paper to avoid ripping them.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine your purpose for using stick-on letters. You can use these for numbering and lettering for mailboxes, boats, posters, signs, doors, decorations and much more.

    • 2

Purchase the appropriate size of the letters. These types of letters are normally available in almost any size needed, ranging from very small to very large. For a mailbox, many people use around 3.5-inch letters.

One way to stick the letters on straight is to use a piece of tape. Masking tape works well because it is easy to remove after finishing the project. Place the piece of tape horizontally just below where the letters will be placed.

Another way to ensure that you place stick-on letters on straight is to draw a line with a pencil. Do not use something, such as a marker, that will leave a permanent line.

To ensure that you place the letters on straight, you must begin with a straight line, whether you are using tape or a drawn line. A level will help with this. Prior to drawing the line or placing tape on the object, take out the level and make sure the line is straight. If necessary, use a ruler as well to ensure that the letters will be straight before applying them.

Once you have a straight line, you can apply the letters. Use caution when peeling them and applying them because they are sticky and sometimes difficult to work with. If you accidentally place it on crooked, it may be hard to peel off and put back on appropriately.
