Slide a stud finder along the walls at the front of each side of the space where the laundry area is in the room. Mark the location of the nearest stud in front of the area on each wall with a pencil.
Measure up from the floor to the height of the curtains along each stud marking on the walls with a tape measure. Mark the measurement on the walls with a pencil.
Hold one half of a closet rod holder at each pencil marking on the walls. Drive the included screws through the holes in the rod holder and into the walls studs with a screw gun.
Sand the hardwood rod with a fine-grit sanding pad in the direction of the wood grain until the surface is smooth. Wipe off the dust with a tack cloth.
Spray two coats of clear spray lacquer onto the wooden rod. Allow the first coat to dry 4 hours and apply the second coat. Allow the second coat of lacquer to dry 24 hours before handling.
Pivot one end of the rod into the cupped half of the rod holder and drop the opposite end into the slotted half of the rod holder on the opposite wall.
Slide the curtain hooks into the curtain panels and hang the hooks over the rod. Even out the panels across the length of the rod to enclose the laundry area of the room.
