Place the door jamb latch plate against the edge of the door. Center the hole in the latch plate with the hole in the side of the door and then trace the latch plate with a pencil.
Chisel the wood from inside the tracing to a depth that allows the latch plate to rest flush with the edge of the door.
Place the latch place in the recess on the side of the door and mark the mounting holes in the recess. Drill pilot holes that measure half the diameter of the mounting screws for the latch plate.
Secure the latch plate to the door with the supplied screws. Make sure the flat part of the latch faces away from the direction the door swings.
Adjust the deadbolt length by rotating the faceplate either counterclockwise or clockwise to shorten or lengthen the thickness of the deadbolt so it matches the thickness of the door.
Slide the interior part of the lock through the hole in the face of the door on the inside of the home. Slide the outside of the lock through the hole on the outside of the door and join the two pieces together.
Secure the two pieces of the lock together with the supplied machine screws and a screwdriver.
Place the strike plate over the hole in the door jamb and trace it. Chisel the wood away so the strike plate rests flush with the door jamb.
Drill pilot holes that measure half the diameter of the screws for the strike plate. Secure the strike plate to the door jamb.
