How to Remove Grease With a Lettuce Leaf

Lettuce is good for your health in more ways than one. Eating lettuce adds fiber and vitamins to your diet, and you can also use lettuce to remove unwanted fat and grease from cooked soups, stews and ground meat. If you are on a low fat diet or watching your cholesterol, keep a head of lettuce in your refrigerator to soak up grease.

Instructions

    • 1

Cook your soup, stew or ground beef. Turn off the burner. Allow the grease to rise to the surface.

    • 2

Tear a few lettuce leaves from a head of lettuce. Place the lettuce leaves on top of the grease.

    • 3

Wait for the grease to be absorbed by the lettuce. Add more leaves, if needed.

    • 4

Discard the lettuce leaves once the grease is absorbed.
