The Best Way to Get Rid of Earwigs

Earwigs are small insects that have dual pincers on their tails, which date back to the late Triassic period. The earwigs' pincers are capable of delivering a painful pinch as their means of defense. Stop earwigs from gaining access to your home by eliminating the damp, dark areas where they tend to gather and by treating the perimeter of your home with lawn granules.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any doormats from the entry ways of your home every night and when it rains. Eliminating their resting spot will force the insect to find another place to reside, away from the doors of your home.

    • 2

Move any planters away from your home's doors or put them on riser blocks or bricks. Earwigs are attracted to the dampness and darkness that the bottom of the planters provide. This also eliminates the insect's ability to hide underneath of the objects, giving them close proximity to your home's entries.

Purchase lawn granules from your local home and garden center, then spread them around the perimeter of your home. Create a 2 -foot barrier between your home's structure and the rest of your lawn and distribute the granules around any cracks in the home's foundation or cement slab.
