Clean the boots with warm, soapy water. Check the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning suggestions and warnings. Use a mild, bleach-free liquid dish or laundry soap and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse the boots with a damp cloth.
Wipe the inside of the boots with a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol. This will help to eliminate any lingering bacteria that cause odor.
Dry the boots out. Depending on the type of boots, you may be able to use a clothes dryer. Check the manufacturer's instructions first. For boots that cannot go in the dryer, set them on a heating vent in your home or outside in the sunshine, weather permitting.
Crumple newspapers and stuff them into the boots before setting them in a dry, ventilated area. Replace the newspapers every 24 hours and let the boots dry for three to five days.
