DIY: Eco-Friendly Room Spray

If you want to go green when it comes to home cleaning products, try trading in your commercial air freshener for a homemade one. An eco-friendly room spray will freshen up any room of the home without releasing the toxins that are often found in store-bought air fresheners into the air. You also have greater control over the scent and the strength of the scent when you create your own eco-friendly room spray.

Instructions

  1. Alcohol Room Spray

Pour 2 oz. vodka into a clean, empty spray bottle. Reader's Digest Canada recommends adding 1/4 tsp. bergamot essential oil, five drops lemon essential oil and eight drops clove essential oil to the bottle. Put the lid on the bottle and shake it up well. Vodka helps to banish odors and the essential oils create a pleasing scent. Substitute other essential oils as desired.

Add 1 cup water to the bottle. Put the lid on and shake it up again.

Let the bottle of liquid sit for about three days. Spritz the mixture throughout the desired room.
