A Lok Mod D-Ring is a specialized D-Ring, or carabiner, that prevents the latch from opening up at an inopportune time. A D-ring is a fastener that looks like an upper case D. One straight side of the D has a hinge on one side. To get into the D-Ring you press in on the side and then place a hoop inside the ring. You let go of the ring to trap the loop on the ring. A Lok Mod D-Ring has a cam lock attached to it to keep the hinge from opening by accident.
