How to Fix Damaged Nonstick Pans

Nonstick pans make frying eggs and pancakes a breeze, but the material does have one significant drawback: The nonstick coating on such pans is fragile -- easily scratched by utensils like metal spatulas. If your pan has been so damaged, there's no need to throw it away. Instead, you can cover the nicks and scratches with a coating of nonstick cookware repair spray.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the pan thoroughly with soap and water, and dry it with a towel. Allow it to air dry for a couple hours, to ensure that all moisture has evaporated before proceeding.

    • 2

Apply nonstick cookware repair spray evenly to the entire surface of the pan, and allow it dry for half an hour. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 3

Place the pan inside the oven, and let it bake for 45 minutes. This will solidify the repair spray, and make the pan safe for future use.

    • 4

Remove the pan from the oven, and wait for it to completely cool. Once it has reached room temperature, wash the pan once more. Let it air dry before using it again.
