DIY Cloth Toilet Paper

A year’s worth of toilet paper could be taking a big bite out your household budget. Recycling clothing is nothing new, but using it as toilet tissue might have never entered your mind. A few hours of cutting and sewing could produce a week’s worth of reusable cloth toilet wipes.

  • Flannel
  • Terrycloth
  • Sewing machine

      Cut two 8-by-8-inch squares from flannel and terrycloth. Used flannel sheets and old towels work well.

      Place one square of each cloth together with the wrong side facing out. There’s no need to pin the squares together since the flannel will cling to the terrycloth to allow for stitching.

      Machine stitch a 1/4-inch hem around three sides of the square and half of the fourth side. Turn the fabric with the right sides facing outward.

      Fold the unstitched hem inside and machine stitch around the perimeter of the square. Use a zigzag stitch to make it decorative.
