How to Edge a Double Ruffle Crochet

Double edge ruffles add charm and detail to crocheted blankets and doilies. Unlike other parts of the work, the ruffles are slightly curled and full of detail. Whether you use a double crochet or shell stitch to form your ruffle, you can always edge the piece the same way by using a row of single crochets around the entire ruffle. The single crochet will add stability to the ruffle, allowing the full detail to show.

Instructions

    • 1

Chain one stitch after you finish the final double ruffle crochet stitch. This stitch starts off the edging row.

    • 2

Single crochet in the next stitch. A single crochet is performed by going through both sides of the stitch, looping once around and pulling through.

    • 3

Move on to the next stitch and do another single crochet. The single crochet is a stabilizing stitch that will help the ruffle keep its form.

    • 4

Single crochet all the way around the piece in every stitch until you reach the end.

    • 5

Tie a knot in the final stitch to end your piece.
