How to Clean Oneida Flatware

Oneida is a brand of flatware, dinnerware and glass items produced by a company that has its origins in a utopian society -- the Oneida Community -- founded in upstate New York in 1848. The flatware is equally at home in casual, fine dining and commercial settings. The key to ensuring clean Oneida flatware is keeping it dry and free of food debris between uses.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove food remnants from the flatware using a rag or sponge as soon after use as possible.

    • 2

Separate flatware from larger utensils, plates and other items.

    • 3

Soak the flatware in a shallow plastic or stainless steel pan filled with water and detergent or a commercial pre-soak solution before washing.

    • 4

Load your flatware in the dishwasher and run as usual or handwash in a dishpan filled with hot water mixed with a mild dish detergent.

    • 5

Rinse the flatware, if not in a dishwasher, in water that is at least 180 degrees.

    • 6

Dry flatware completely with a towel before placing it in storage. This will keep water and the minerals in the water from staining or tarnishing the metal.
