How to Make Hydrangea Pomander Balls

Hydrangea pomander balls are Styrofoam balls covered in paper flowers that have the multi-petaled profile of the hydrangea flower. They are an excellent centerpiece decoration for weddings, and if a ribbon is attached, they can even be carried by bridesmaids or the flower girl. Make a hydrangea pomander ball using supplies acquired at craft or fabric stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Punch out many paper flowers from pastel cardstock using a flower paper punch. Make a hydrangea pomander using just one color or several.

    • 2

Stack two paper flowers on top of each other, positioning them so both layers of petals are visible from the top.

    • 3

Pierce both flowers through the middle using a pearl-headed pin.

    • 4

Push the pin, which holds both flowers, into the Styrofoam ball.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 2 through 4, positioning the flowers so no Styrofoam is visible between the flowers.
