How to Remove the Incense Smell From Furniture

Incense can be quite pungent, and its smell can permeate your home and furniture. If you burn a lot of incense, or if you get used furniture from someone who did, you may want to work to remove the smell from the furniture. In some cases where the furniture was exposed to the smell for too long, you may not be able to completely remove the smell, but you can at least make the smell less noticeable.

Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble the furniture as much as possible so you can reach all of the components and crevices easily.

    • 2

Sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface of the furniture. Baking soda is a natural cleaning solution that will absorb odors from the couch. Let the baking soda sit overnight or for one day if the incense smell is very strong.

    • 3

Mist white vinegar over the baking soda if the furniture isn’t upholstery. The white vinegar will naturally neutralize odors and will wet the baking soda, which enhances its ability to absorb odors. Let the furniture sit for another few hours for the baking soda to dry completely.

    • 4

Sweep up the baking soda and discard it.

    • 5

Repeat the process if the incense smell is still noticeable.
