Cover the table with a complementary tablecloth to create a backdrop for the amber glasses. Alternatively, set a complementary place mat at each seat. Cream, shades of blue such as sky blue or cobalt, red, green, purple, lilac or pastel pink work well with amber. Neutral colors such as white, black, gray or beige will work. Avoid using a gold or yellow tablecloth or gold or yellow place mats -- too much of a similar color takes away from the warm effect of the amber glasses.
Set the table with gold-colored silverware, if available, to play off the amber glasses. Alternatively, use regular silverware to provide contrast.
Tuck a color-coordinated napkin into each wineglass. Fold each napkin in half lengthwise and push the fold into the glass so the ends of the napkin flare out of the glass. Set off your glassware with print napkins that include amber in their colors, or use napkins that match the tablecloth.
Arrange candles in amber candle holders along the center of the table. Candle flames playing off amber glassware brings it to life, and the amber holders provide a matching decorative element.
Display fresh flowers as the centerpiece. Arrange sunflowers, gladioli, dahlias, roses, foliage or tropical blooms such as spears of red ginger or sprays of hibiscus to complete the decorative effect. Choose flowers or foliage that go with the tablecloth, such as bamboo, ferns or small branches of leaves from your garden for a green tablecloth, ginger with a red tablecloth or blue hydrangeas with a blue tablecloth.
