How to Keep Blankets on a Bed

Waking up in the morning with your blankets in a heap on the floor leaves you chilled and uncomfortable, and your bedroom a mess. Restless sleeping, poorly fitting covers and even slippery sheets can contribute to the problem. Keeping blankets in place while still keeping the bed comfortable can be a challenge. Experimenting with more than one solution may be necessary to find the one that helps you keep your blankets on your bed.

Instructions

    • 1

Tuck each blanket securely, using hospital corners. Tuck the bottom portion of each blanket under the mattress, and then fold down the sides and tuck them in, making a sharp crease at the corner.

    • 2

Place the correct size blankets on your bed. If you choose a blanket that's too small, you won't be able to tuck it in securely. If you have the correct size blankets and they still come loose, try using blankets that are one size larger and for each blanket tuck the 12 inches or more of one end and the sides beneath the mattress to hold the blanket securely.

    • 3

Switch to flannel or jersey knit bedsheets. Unlike slick cotton or silk sheets, flannel or jersey sheets provide some resistance, gripping the blanket that is on top of them so it's less likely to slide and make other blankets slide.

Pin the blankets to the bed along the bottom and sides with old-fashioned blanket pins. These over-sized safety pins hold blankets securely in place.
