How to Get Super Glue Out of a Doorknob

Super glue is a fast-acting adhesive that is often used by crafters and contractors. While it is an extremely handy glue in a variety of projects, it requires careful handling. It is possible to drip the glue accidentally, leaving behind hard plastic beads on your furniture or yourself. If you have dripped super glue on your doorknob, take steps to remove it right away. The more quickly you act, the easier the super glue will be to remove.

Instructions

    • 1

Soak the tip of a cotton swab in acetone. Acetone is widely available as nail polish remover.

    • 2

Dab the glue with the acetone-soaked cotton swab. Avoid touching the doorknob if possible, as acetone can cause minor damage to some finishes.

    • 3

Scrape at the glue using a butter knife after the acetone softens the glue.

    • 4

Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the super glue is entirely removed.
