How to Get Wrinkles Out of Curtain Panels

Curtains straight from the package are often wrinkled, especially along the fold lines. Freshly laundered curtains may become wrinkled if they aren't tended to right away. These details can make your home look untidy and neglected. Dress your windows in their best by taking a few minutes to remove the wrinkles. Always read the care label before laundering, ironing or steaming your curtain panels so you do not damage them in the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Toss one or two curtain panels in the dryer with a damp washcloth. Tumble dry on low about 20 minutes. You can also wash them, per label instructions, and then dry them to remove the wrinkles.

    • 2

Iron the backside of the curtain using the setting recommended on the care label. Use a pressing cloth with some panels, such as those made from suede, to avoid damaging the fabric.

    • 3

Steam curtains that are still hanging up with a garment steamer, holding it about 3 inches from the fabric.

    • 4

Hang synthetic sheer curtains up immediately after laundering them. They will dry quickly and hanging will eliminate any wrinkles.
