Although it's less effective than other waxes and varnishes, paste wax adds a soft, attractive glow to wood floors and protects them from mild abrasion and water damage. When applied to low-traffic areas of flooring in cool, dry rooms, paste wax can last up to five years. You can make your own paste wax with turpentine and wax.
