My Tobi Steamer is Leaking Water

The Tobi steamer is an upright steam machine designed to help remove wrinkles from garments, drapes and other fabric. The steamer has a large water tank and heats water within 1 minute of startup. Although the tank is meant to be waterproof and can hold enough water to steam items for up to 60 minutes at a time, assembling or positioning the drain plug or water tank incorrectly can cause problems. For instance, if the steamer is leaking water, some troubleshooting might be needed.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the Tobi Steamer power switch to “Off” and remove the power cord from the outlet. Let the steamer cool down if previously in use.

    • 2

Grasp the hose and the hose pole, turn in a counterclockwise direction and pull gently to remove from the base unit. Set the hose and pole aside.

    • 3

Remove the water tank and set the tank aside. Unscrew the drain switch from the steamer base and empty the steamer base by tilting the base toward the drain plug over a sink. Close the drain plug and turn in a clockwise motion until firmly closed. The drain plug is the likely source of water leaking, unless tightened well.

    • 4

Fill the water tank with clean, cool water, close the valve cap in a clockwise motion and reposition the water tank on the main base. Wait until water is seen flowing into the base to verify the tank is positioned correctly. Reposition if needed until water fills the main base unit.

    • 5

Restore power, and allow 30 to 60 seconds for the steamer to heat before using.
