Can You Put a Sunbeam Mixer Bowl in the Dishwasher?

Sunbeam Products, a home small appliance corporation, has manufactured many styles of kitchen stand mixers over the decades -- the first interlocking-paddle dual-batter automatic mixer, the Mixmaster, was a Sunbeam product, introduced in 1931 when the company was still called the Chicago Flexible Shaft Company. Any time you use your mixer, you'll need to clean the mixing bowl afterward, regardless of your mixer's style. There are several possible methods for cleaning a standard Sunbeam mixer bowl, and one of them is the dishwasher.
  1. Dishwasher Safe

    • The Sunbeam glass or aluminum bowl that is included with the stand mixer can be washed in the dishwasher after every use. Place the bowl on the upper or lower rack, face down, best automatic dishwasher cleaning results. Do not nest other items underneath the bowl, as this may limit water and soap reaching inside the bowl and can leave the bowl dirty as a result.

    Hand-Washing

    • Another option is to hand-wash the bowl. Simply use some dishwashing liquid, warm water and a cleaning sponge or cloth. Wash out the bowl thoroughly, rinse well with water and dry with a towel. Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they might scratch the bowl surface.

    Storage

    • Store the Sunbeam stand mixer bowl in a clean, dry, cool location when the mixer is not in use. If dust, dirt or debris settles in the bowl in-between uses, wipe out the bowl with a clean, damp cloth or wash with soapy water and rinse well. Dry the bowl before replacing the bowl on the stand.

    Replacements

    • If the glass bowl chips or breaks or the aluminum bowl is damaged or broken, do not use another type of bowl in its place. The included bowl is specifically designed for use with the Sunbeam stand mixer. To order a new bowl, locate the nearest Sunbeam service center for assistance.
