How to Keep Rollers on a Big-Screen TV From Scratching Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors are susceptible to furniture scratches and dents. These can be caused when you move the furniture or just from the weight of the furniture gouging the floor. Some models of big-screen televisions come with casters to make them easier to move, but these can also scratch a floor. Replacing or covering the casters will protect your floor both from scratches and from dents due to the television's weight.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the television. Lay a thick quilt on the floor next to the television, and carefully lay the television on its side on the quilt.

    • 2

Unscrew the screws holding the wheels in place, if the wheels have screws. If so, replace the wheels with wider, all rubber or polyurethane casters. Screw them into place.

    • 3

Cover the bottom of each of the original wheels, or the rubber ones if you have replaced the originals, with one felt furniture leg pad.

    • 4

Turn the television back upright. For added protection, place an area rug under the television.
