Removing Carpet Glue From a Painted Wall

Carpet glue is an adhesive meant to secure carpeting to the floor. It has a powerful grip; and if you are working in a hurry, you may find that some carpet glue ends up where it shouldn't, such as on a painted wall. If you are trying to remove carpet glue from a wall without damaging the paint job, work slowly and carefully and be careful what you put on your wall.

Soak a clean cloth in hot water and hold it over the carpet glue for one to two minutes.

    • 2

Pry away any loose clumps of carpet glue with a putty knife after it has softened up from the heat and moisture. In some cases, you can remove all of the carpet glue this way.

Pour a very small amount of vegetable oil into your hand.

    • 4

Rub the vegetable oil into the carpet glue on the painted wall.

    • 6
