How to Keep Window Condensation Off the Window Sills

Condensation that forms on windows will run down the window and pool at the bottom. Besides being unsightly, this often causes mold to grow and is a lot of extra work to clean up. The best way to keep condensation off of the window sills is to prevent it altogether. You can use either short-term solutions or more permanent remedies to solve this problem. Consider the least expensive, short-term solutions if you are renting and the more expensive, long-term solutions if you own your home.

Instructions

Measure the windows and cut clear window film to fit inside using sharp scissors and a straight edge for a guide. Peel the back of the film off and carefully stick it to the window. This prevents condensation because the warm air doesn't have contact with the glass.

Clean the windows with an antifog spray by covering the window with the spray and wiping it with paper towel. Reapply the spray when the window starts to fog again or builds condensation. This works as a short-term solution.

Add a dehumidifier to the room. The dehumidifier will suck the moisture out of the air, preventing condensation. Use it frequently during the wetter months or whenever you see condensation starting to form.
