Can You Change the Door Swing on Samsung Washing Machines?

Front Load Washers

• Most of Samsung’s washing machines are front load machines and as such they have a tight and sophisticated door lock. This lock is installed on the right side of the machine and the door swings from right to left. Because of the sophisticated lock, you cannot change the direction of the door swing.

Top Load Washers

• Samsung makes only a few top load washing machines. These machines also have a lock installed on the front of the machine. The washing machine’s lid opens from the front of the machine to the back. You also cannot change the door swing on this type of machine.

Dryer

• Samsung also manufactures a line of dryers. These are more versatile machines that allow you to change the direction of the door swing depending on your space and preference. This allows you to move the washer and dryer several times and in many different configurations while still maintaining convenience.

Changing the Dryer Door

• Changing the door swing on a Samsung dryer requires only changing several screws. To do this, unplug the machine and remove the two door hinge screws. Remove the door and remove the two screws on the front of the dryer frame, the two screws on the opposite side of the door hinge and the two screws on the holder level. Replace all of the screws on the other side of the machine in the same manner that you removed them. Insert the door and tighten the screws to hold it to the hinge.
