How to Use Silicone Caulking in a Mold

Silicone caulk is a good choice since it's flexible and does not stick to the molded object. One hundred percent silicone caulk is often much cheaper than commercially produced products. A rigid mold is required for silicone caulk, and porous material will need a mold release agent.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply the mold release agent to the interior mold if using porous material.

    • 2

Cut off the tip of the silicone caulk tube with scissors. Place the tube in the caulk gun.

    • 3

Squeeze a bead of caulk into the mold. Use your fingers to brush the silicone into the surface. Apply more caulk until the surface is filled.

    • 4

Allow the silicone to dry for at least 36 hours.
