How to Hang Frames in Plaster Walls

Considerations must be made when hanging frames on plaster walls because you must first locate the studs to secure the frame and avoid damaging the walls. Proper techniques and tools are required to successfully hang a frame.

      Locate the studs by running a stud finder vertically and horizontally along the wall. Mark the location of the stud with a pencil. The stud should serve as a secure anchoring point for the frame.

      Place the frame against the wall at the desired location. Mark the corners of the frame on the wall.

      Hammer an 8d nail into the stud.

      String a wire into the support holes at the back of the frame. Hang the frame on the 8d nail.
