Choose a curtain rod that is a few inches longer than area you want to cover. For example, if the area you want to divide or cover up is 24 inches long, use a curtain rod that is 26 to 28 inches long. This will ensure that the window panels cover the entire area.
Measure the areas on the curtain rod where the ceiling-mount brackets will hold the rod to the ceiling. Depending on the length of the rod, you might have to install a bracket on each end and the middle of the rod. The manufacturer of your specific ceiling rod should include installation instructions and recommendations in the packaging.
Use a sturdy stepladder to access to the ceiling. Wipe the ceiling with a dust mop or duster to remove cobwebs and debris.
Measure from each point where the curtain rods will hang from the ceiling. Use a pencil to mark the areas of the ceiling where you will install the ceiling-mount brackets.
Screw drywall anchors into the ceiling at the marks you created in Step 4. Use a power drill with a Phillips head, and screw until the anchor head is flush against the ceiling surface. These anchors are installed in the same manner as a screw. They secure the brackets, curtain rod and panels to the ceiling and help prevent the curtains from being removed accidentally.
Attach the ceiling-mount brackets directly into the drywall anchors with the screws included in the bracket kit. The drywall anchors have an opening that allows you to screw the bracket screws inside the anchors. The drywall anchors help prevent damage to the ceiling, as well as keep the ceiling-mount brackets in place.
Slide the window panels onto the curtain rod, and attach the rod to the ceiling-mount brackets. Carefully pull the window panels across the rod until you achieve the desired look.
