How to Maintain a Brita Pitcher

You need to drink water to survive, but tap water can be filled with harmful contaminants that you do not want to put in your body. Buying bottled water can get very expensive and it can be damaging to the environment. Investing in a Brita pitcher can allow you to drink high-quality filtered water for about the price of tap water. A Brita pitcher is a relatively low-maintenance device that can add a great deal of convenience to your life.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your Brita pitcher by hand with dish soap and water before using it the first time. Continue to do this as needed, to ensure that it remains a clean place to store your water. Never put it in the dishwasher.

    • 2

Place the filter in a bowl filled with cold water for 15 minutes, in an upright position. Rinse it in cold water after removing it from the bowl.

    • 3

Insert the filter into its designated spot in the reservoir. Ensure that it is tightly in place to create a firm seal.

    • 4

Fill the pitcher up with tap water. Refrain from drinking the water from the first two pitchers to ensure that all dust particles have been filtered out. You can begin drinking the water from the third pitcher.

    • 5

Refill the pitcher as needed. Wait for the water to filter through the reservoir before pouring it, as unfiltered water will likely flow out.

    • 6

Change the filter on your pitcher once every two months, to ensure that your water remains fresh.
