Pinch off a small piece of white polymer clay as big as you want the hearth stone to be and roll it into a ball.
Press the clay until it has a disc-like shape. It should still be relatively thick compared to its size.
Carve a curved line into the top of the disc with a toothpick. The curved line resembles a curled-up snake or a rounded number nine.
Pick out any debris that remains in the line. A little bit of roughness is appropriate as your final product is meant to resemble a carved rock.
Sink the pointed end of a small eye-hook into the edge of the hearthstone if you want to hang it from a cord. The eye-hook should be inserted into the clay deeply enough that only the eye protrudes from the top.
Line a cookie tray with aluminum foil and place the hearthstone on the foil.
Bake the hearthstone, following the temperature and time instructions on the polymer clay's packaging.
Remove the hearth stone from the oven and allow it to cool entirely.
Sand the hearthstone lightly with 400-grit sandpaper to remove any fingerprints.
Paint the curved line carved into the hearthstone with aqua-blue acrylic paint applied with a fine-tipped paintbrush.
