Locate a paper recycling facility in your area. Oklahoma recycling facilities are listed by town on freecycle.org. Because recycling facilities are still developing in many parts of Oklahoma, you may have to look in nearby towns if there is nothing right where you live.
Contact your local paper recycling facility to determine which paper products are eligible to be recycled.
Separate eligible paper products. Non-eligible paper products should be disposed of with general household trash, or else set aside for a trip to a recycling center that will accept them.
Deliver the recyclable materials to the paper recycling facility or schedule a pick up. Some Oklahoma cities provide recycling services as a part of their trash pick up service, particularly in urban areas. Contact your local waste management facility to find out if this option is available to you.
Spread the word. The best advertising is word of mouth. Encouraging friends and family to join in the recycling trend can drive up the demand for recycling facilities. Oklahoma recycling centers typically exist in areas where there is a certain critical mass of paper to be recycled, so getting more people to recycle really can make a difference.
Stay informed as recycling trends and policies change and evolve in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Recycling Association (OKRA) offers newsletters, enrichment opportunities and seminars throughout the year. These are helpful resources for Oklahomans who do not currently have reasonable access to recycling facilities.
