Kitchen cabinets are the obvious choice for storing your small kitchen appliances, but you should do some planning before filling up your cupboards. If you have the space, dedicate one of your cabinets to small appliances. Keep the appliances you use the most often toward the front of the cabinet, and always store heavy appliances on lower shelves. Store the appliances you only use once in a great while on top shelves or toward the back of the cabinet to make retrieval easier.
Take advantage of some wall space in the kitchen for your appliances. Wall shelves allow you to display some of your fancier small appliances out in the open. Keep the heavier appliances on bottom shelves or stored away in a cabinet to avoid back strain and to prevent the shelf from crashing.
Choose under-the-cabinet appliances whenever possible to reduce the amount of storage you need. The space-saving appliances mount under cabinets to keep the counters free for food preparation. Coffeemakers, toasters, can openers and microwave ovens are available that will mount under the cabinets in your kitchen. These are frequently-used appliances that you may want available at all times.
If you are fortunate enough to have a lot of counter space in your kitchen, dedicate a section to appliance storage. A small fabric screen can keep the appliances out of sight and resolve your storage problems. Choose a space at the far end of a counter, close to the wall, to keep your appliances out of sight. Appliance garages can attach to your existing cabinets and provide an extra cubby to store your small appliances.
