How to Dispose of Hazardous Waste in Medford, New Jersey

While Medford, New Jersey residents with hazardous waste can bring some materials to the town's hazardous waste collection site, many materials aren't collected within Medford. Dispose of your residential hazardous waste either through Medford or through the county program, depending on the nature of your waste. Businesses must arrange their own disposal for hazardous waste and cannot use the town's facilities.

      Sort your waste into materials that are accepted by the Medford Township Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site and those that are not. As of April 2011, Medford Township accepts fluorescent ballasts, fluorescent lights, driveway sealers, solvents, antifreeze, batteries, used motor oil, aerosol cans and both latex and oil-based paint. Empty propane canisters are also accepted, but all valves need to be opened.

      Drive acceptable materials to the Medford Township Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site. As of April 2011, they are open every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

      Complete a form that identifies the waste you're dropping off, and provide proof of Medford residency, such as a household utility bill. Then, drop the waste off at the facility.

      Call Burlington County Household Hazardous Waste to schedule an appointment for hazardous waste materials not collected in Medford (co.burlington.nj.us). Take the hazardous waste to their facility in Columbus, NJ on the day of your appointment.
