Instructions

    • 1

Hang a monthly calendar on a wall of your kitchen. On the weekend, write down what you will serve for breakfast each morning of the upcoming week. Tie a piece of ribbon around a marker, and glue the free end of the ribbon to the base of the calendar, so you don't have to spend time looking for something to write with.

    • 2

Place a note pad with a magnetic back to the front of the refrigerator. After you've created your breakfast list, review the menu items you've written on the calendar and write the ingredients you will need for them on the note pad. Take this list with you to the grocery store when you do your weekend shopping.

    • 3

List pantry items that you are running low on or that get used up during breakfast preparation on the note pad so you remember to buy them during your weekend shopping trip.

    • 4

Leave an empty area at the bottom of each calendar day for family members can write in notes for you. Examples might include a memo from your child stating, "Don't like raisins in the oatmeal," or from your spouse saying, "Won't be at breakfast Wednesday morning."

    • 5

Change the menu items week to week so that the foods served don't become monotonous to your family members. This will keep them looking forward to their morning meal.

    • 6

Get kids involved with the menu planning, Each weekend, sit down with little ones and ask for their input as you're writing out the weekly schedule. This may help to ensure they don't complain about what they're served and will make them excited to get up in the morning, as they feel included in the early-morning routine.
