Things for a Home Management Binder

Use a home management binder to keep you and your family organized. The binder holds everything your household needs to smoothly function day to day. You can make your binder as simple as a hardcover three-ring binder with dividers, or you can devise a hanging file system. Keep the home management binder where everyone in the family has access to it.
  1. Calendar

    • Keep a running calendar in the binder marked with upcoming events and important dates. Include items such as sports games, practices, performances, school and work schedules and doctor appointments. Include special occasions, such as anniversaries and birthdays.

    Important Phone Numbers

    • Place a list of key phone numbers at the front of the binder. Your family will be able to easily find these numbers in case of emergency. Important numbers include your parents, doctors, veterinarian, poison control, school and coaches.

    Monthly Budget

    • Create a section just for the household budget, including bills, groceries and miscellaneous spending. Designate a page for each type of bill so you can mark when the bills were paid, the check number and approval code. Put household receipts in a clear, plastic sleeve for each month.

    Project Sheets

    • Make a wish list of upcoming projects for the home. Go through the house and list everything that needs to be repaired and materials needed. Projects include painting, replacing doors, installing flooring and redecorating. Shop around and add estimated costs for each project and file them. When you have extra money, pull out a project sheet and get to work.
