How to Sort Cookbook Topics

Whether you trade with friends or covet your grandmother's secret recipes, after awhile, all the handwritten recipes become disorganized and sometimes lost. Instead of allowing your recipe catalog to get to that point, set up a system that keeps your recipes neatly organized and filed away in a cookbook. Organizing your recipes by food type, such as dinner foods and dessert foods, eliminates the hassle of looking through a disorganized book while also eliminating the potential of losing a beloved recipe.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide how to sort your topics. Many recipes are easily sorted into categories, such as breads, pastas, desserts, vegetables and meats. For a more general cookbook, consider sorting your topics into breakfast, lunch or dinner categories.

    • 2

Sort your recipes into the desired categories. For example, strawberry pancakes would go under breakfast.

    • 3

Put your favorite recipes from each category at the front of the section. Keeping your favorite recipes handy allows you to refer back to them quickly. Alternatively, organize them alphabetically.

    • 4

Label each section accordingly to ensure that all recipes stay organized.
