Keeping your child's toys organized and out of the way will prevent a mess and make picking up easy for both the children and the parents. Instructions

    • 1

Choose a shelving unit that will allow you to fit a variety of cardboard boxes. You can find deals on used units in online classifieds or at garage sales, or use one you already own. Select various box sizes and test-fit them into the shelves before you begin.

    • 2

Wrap the exterior of the boxes in solid-colored wrapping paper. Tape the paper onto the inside of the box to secure it.

    • 3

Label the side of the box that will be facing outward with the category of toys it will contain. Use larger boxes for bigger toys and smaller boxes for smaller toys. You may need more than one box if you have a large quantity of a particular toy.

    • 4

Organize the toys and then fill the boxes according to their labels.

    • 5

Slide the filled boxes onto the shelves with the labels facing outward to ensure you can see them.
