Purge

• Once a year, have a "closet purge." If you're organizing a closet full of things you no longer need, you're just wasting your time and effort. Instead, go through everything in your closet. • When you organize the closet, put the things that you wear or use the most often in the places that are easiest to reach. For instance, if you have a certain set of outfits that you wear to work throughout the week, put them all at eye level and at the front of the closet. Things used less frequently can go at the bottom of the closet, on the top shelf or at the back of the closet.

• You can get more specific with your closet organization by sorting. Sort clothes according to type and color. This makes it simple to find exactly what you're looking for every time. If you want, you can also sort by length. This not only makes it easier to find things; it also makes the closet look extremely organized.

• Closet-organizational products help keep your closet in order and make the best use of the space available. First, get boxes for your shoes to avoid the heap at the bottom of the closet. Sweater bins or dividers help keep folded clothes neatly stacked. Use racks that hang on the backs of closet doors for ties, belts and other accessories.
