Closet Organizition Ideas

A disorganized closet is a source of constant frustration. When you remove an item and then want to put it back, you don't know where it's supposed to go. Even worse, when you search for something, you have no idea where to look. If you think you'd feel embarrassed if anyone other than you looked in your closet, it's time to take advantage of organizational concepts and equipment.
  1. Purge

    • Once a year, have a "closet purge." If you're organizing a closet full of things you no longer need, you're just wasting your time and effort. Instead, go through everything in your closet. Don't keep anything that's ripped or stained (and that you have no intention of fixing or cleaning), or anything that doesn't fit or is terribly out of style. Donate some items, fix the others, and don't be afraid to throw away things that are falling apart. The result is a closet that is much easier to organize.

    Prioritize

    • When you organize the closet, put the things that you wear or use the most often in the places that are easiest to reach. For instance, if you have a certain set of outfits that you wear to work throughout the week, put them all at eye level and at the front of the closet. Things used less frequently can go at the bottom of the closet, on the top shelf or at the back of the closet.

    Sort

    • You can get more specific with your closet organization by sorting. Sort clothes according to type and color. This makes it simple to find exactly what you're looking for every time. If you want, you can also sort by length. This not only makes it easier to find things; it also makes the closet look extremely organized.

    Buy Some Help

    • Closet-organizational products help keep your closet in order and make the best use of the space available. First, get boxes for your shoes to avoid the heap at the bottom of the closet. Sweater bins or dividers help keep folded clothes neatly stacked. Use racks that hang on the backs of closet doors for ties, belts and other accessories.
