How to Use a Shoe Organizer

Most shoe organizers are composed of a piece of cloth or plastic with shoe-sized pouches sewn to one side and a hanging hook at the top. Normally, people store their shoes in them but these hanging organizers serve a multitude of other purposes in any room of the house. When you don't have any more shoes to store, get creative and use the pouches for all sorts of other things to make the most of your storage space and keep everything in an accessible, organized place.

Instructions

    • 1

Roll up socks, underwear, belts, bras, scarves, ties and other small clothing items and put them in the shoe organizer's pockets to keep them tidy and accessible.

    • 2

Place your electronic gadgets and their accessories into the organizer and hang it on the back of a door so you'll always be able to find your phones, PDAs, mp3 players, flash drives, and cords and cables without digging through a tangled drawer.

    • 3

Put your cosmetics and hair accessories into a shoe organizer and hang it in the bathroom so all your products are visible and accessible but not cluttering up your countertops.

    • 4

Store small hand tools, nails, screws, tape measures and other miscellaneous items by hanging them in a shoe organizer in the garage.

    • 5

Separate your jewelry into the individual pouches and hang them in your bedroom or bathroom to keep all your earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches and other ornamentation untangled and easy to find.

    • 6

Sort your mail into labeled pouches to keep bills, letters and other correspondence organized, or use the pouches for family "inboxes" to distribute important papers such as schedules, notes and reminders to all your family members or roommates.

    • 7

Put kitchen utensils in a shoe organizer and hang it on the wall or the inside of a cupboard to maximize space in a small kitchen.

    • 8

Keep art and craft supplies handy and tidy by putting items of the same type, such as beads, markers, scissors, stamps, ink pads, stickers, tape, string and glue, into the shoe organizer's pockets.
