How to Recycle In Condominiums

Ask the homeowners association about the location of the condominium's recycling facilities, as well as portable recycling bins for residents. Most large recycling bins are located next to the condominium's Dumpster.

Purchase a portable recycling bin from a home improvement store if portable recycling bins are unavailable for condominium residents. Large, reusable bags may be used to store recyclable items within the dwelling.

Collect all recyclable items found inside the residence. Rinse all recyclable bottles and containers with water to remove residue. Then flatten all boxes to fit as many recyclable items in the portable recycle bin or reusable bag as possible.

Place recyclable items inside the portable recycle bin or bag. Set flat items, such as boxes and newspaper, in the bin or bag first. Then insert bottles and containers over the flat items.

Take the portable recycle bin or bag to the large recycling bin located within the condominium complex. Insert each recyclable item into the corresponding sections of the large recycling bin if required, or place all items into the bin as indicated.

Continue to collect all recyclable items used inside the condominium each week, and store empty items inside the portable recycle bin or bag. Then take the items to the recycling facilities before the scheduled pickup date to prevent storing an abundance of recyclables within the residence.
