Ways to Store Aluminum Foil Rolls in Kitchen

Clutter in the kitchen looks messy and interferes with your culinary efforts, but having supplies on hand as you work helps. The balance between out-of-sight and out-of-reach requires some creative solutions. Store your aluminum foil in plain view with a space-age dispenser, or opt for the old-fashioned approach and stick it in a drawer.
  1. Inside-the-Door Hangers

    • Rubber-coated wire storage that hangs inside a cabinet door is ideal for a rental kitchen in which you can't nail or drill holes. The serrated-edge box with foil sits in the open bin of the portable shelf, and two curved pieces of the wire hook over the top of the door. When you open the cabinet, the foil is within quick grabbing distance. Verify that you can close the cabinet with this type of storage attached unless you don't mind having a door ajar. If you can make holes in the cabinet doors, attach a vertical wrap organizer with screws. The organizer holds three or four rolls of wraps, including the aluminum foil, standing on end in their boxes.

    Individual Food Wrap Dispensers

    • Standardize your wrap storage, and eliminate those flimsy cardboard boxes that break down long before the foil is used up. A neat plastic dispenser with a cutting edge holds standard size rolls of aluminum, waxed paper or cling wrap. Just pop the roll into the holder and recycle the box. Hold the dispenser in one hand, and pull off the length of foil you need with the other. The dispenser remains rigid, and the foil tears away easily. A small plastic window on top of the dispenser lets you see when you need to buy a new roll. Store the dispensers on a shelf or in a drawer.

    Horizontal Shelf Organizer

    • A metal, bamboo or plastic shelf organizer has individual carrels for different kinds of kitchen wrap. The box with the foil, or the waxed paper, parchment or plastic wrap fits horizontally into its own section of the organizer, which sits in a convenient cabinet. No more jumble of boxes to sort through under the sink because each roll has a neat place. Some organizers have double spaces so you keep the current roll on top with a spare beneath it.

    Wall Sculpture Dispenser

    • If you like to let it all hang out in the kitchen, a highly visible contemporary dispenser might be your solution. A sculpted, brushed metal, all-in-one dispenser holds a roll of cling wrap and a roll of aluminum foil on the top and cradles a roll of paper towels in a curve below them. It's meant to look like art on the wall, but it's a work-in-progress piece. Hang it next to the stove or work counter, and just reach up to tear off what you need.
