How to Create a Toy Hammock

Stuffed animals pile up quickly as children grow older. Instead of tripping over teddy bears and dolls, make a toy hammock to store them for a toy room or bedroom. The hammock hangs in the corner of the room, and you can cradle the stuffed animals in it. You can use an old sheet or scrap material to make a toy hammock that fits perfectly on your wall. When you make your own hammock, you control its size, making it as large or small as you need.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the distance diagonally between the two walls you want to hang the toy hammock between.

    • 2

Cut the material two feet wide and one foot longer than the distance between your walls.

    • 3

Cut four strips of material 4 inches long by 1 inch wide. Fold each strip in half. Sew one strip in each corner of the material to form a loop from which to hang the hammock.

    • 4

Screw two J-hooks into the corner where you wish to hang the hammock. Use a ruler or level to assure that the hooks are attached to the wall at the same height on opposing walls.

    • 5

Slide both loops from one end over the first hook, and the two remaining loops over the second hook. The hammock will then hang in the corner of the room.
