How to Install Nonadhesive Drawer Liners

Drawers conveniently hold items that we like to keep out of sight and therefore aren’t cleaned as often as other places. One way to protect the bottoms of the drawers from stains from pen ink or even spilled foods is to line them with paper or plastic. Sticky contact paper was popular for many years but proved to be hard to remove. Another option is nonadhesive drawer liners that protect while being easy to clean and remove.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove everything from the drawers. If you can remove the drawer from its framework, turn it over or vacuum out all the debris that tends to collect in the corners.

    • 2

Wipe down the inside of each drawer with an all-purpose cleaner and a cotton wash rag, turning the rag as necessary and rinsing in clean water. Allow the drawers to dry.

    • 3

Measure the inside width and depth of the drawers and transfer the measurements to the nonadhesive liner.

    • 4

Cut the liner with sharp scissors, keeping the edges as straight as possible for a good fit in the drawers.

    • 5

Place the liners in the drawers with the rubberized side facing down. The liners will cling to the bottoms of the drawers while keeping their contents from soiling the wood.
