How to Install White Wood Closet Shelving

Install shelving in your closet to make more effective use of your space. You can white wood closet shelving in your closets using slotted shelf brackets. These brackets lock into slotted bars so that you an adjust the position of the shelves as your storage needs change. White wood closet shelves are pre-fabricated shelves that come in a wide variety of sizes so you will be able to find the right ones to fit your closet space.

2 Slotted shelf bars, 60 inches long, screws included
Tape measure
Level

Instructions

  Slide a stud finder across the back wall of the closet space. Mark the location of each stud on the wall with a pencil.

  Place one slotted shelf bar vertically along the two wall studs that are nearest each corner of the back wall. Position the bars 24 inches down from the ceiling using a tape measure. Place a level across the top ends of the slotted shelf bars. Adjust their positioning so that they are level. Mark the location of the mounting holes in the slotted shelf bars on the wall with a pencil.

  Use a screw gun to drive the screws that were included with the slotted shelf bars through the mounting holes in the slotted shelf bars into the wall studs.

  Pivot and slide the back end of each slotted shelf bracket into the slotted shelf bars. Pair the brackets at corresponding slots in the bars at four different heights to create the spacing for each shelf.

  Center one white wood closet shelf over each pair of brackets. Drive the screws that were included with the brackets through the mounting holes in brackets into the bottom of the shelves with a screw gun.
