How to Keep Cats From Playing With Toilet Paper

Cats can’t help what comes naturally, and that includes being curious and playful. In-between naps, your cat may amuse himself by tearing apart the toilet paper roll. Instructions

    • 1

Balance a small plastic cup filled with pennies on top of the roll. Once the toilet paper is disturbed the pennies will crash to the floor making a loud noise.

    • 2

Secure the roll with a thick rubber band to prevent the roll from unraveling. Your cat might lose interest when the roll doesn’t produce a never-ending stream of paper.

    • 3

Place a small paper sack over the roll and secure with a rubber band. The sack will completely hide the toilet paper from view.

    • 4

Hang the paper so it drapes between the roll and the wall. Unless your cat is very clever, he will be spinning the roll in the opposite direction of the hanging paper and the paper will stay on the roll.

Place a 3-foot tall scratching post in the bathroom. Encourage your cat to use the post to stretch and remove nail husks with the post.
