Glass Jar Spice Ideas

If you opened up your pantry right now, you would probably find an assortment of spices in glass jars. But beyond the obvious uses for these small glass spice jars, there are some creative and practical ways to repurpose these containers. Whether you are looking to better organize your kitchen cabinets, store candy or create a unique party favor, glass spice jars are a helpful tool in resolving your storage solution concerns.
  1. Wedding Favors

    • One way to use glass spice jars is to fill them with a blend of spices and herbs and give them out as wedding favors or party favors. Fill the spice jars with a unique spice blend or a mix of pickling salts, and your guests will be able to think of you each time they use the contents. You can have the outside of the jar monogrammed with your initials and the date of your nuptials, and even decorated with labels in the colors of your wedding ceremony.

    Bud Vase

    • If you remove the lid from a spice jar, the vessel itself can be transformed into a bud vase. Trim the stems very short so the flowers don't tower over the top of the jar.

    Food Storage

    • Glass spice jars are the perfect way to have portion-controlled servings of snacks and candies on hand. Keep them in the car, at your desk or pack them with your lunch. The small opening at the top of the jar somewhat limits your options, but small candies, pre-wrapped chocolates, trail mix or mixed nuts should all fit perfectly within the constraints of an average glass spice jar.

    Showcase Collections

    • The tiny glass jars used to hold spices also make an attractive display method for your collectibles or souvenirs. Tiny seashells, blown glass figurines, pressed flowers, minerals and other such items can be placed in their own individual jars and lined up on a shelf for display.

    Organization

    • By using a collection of empty spice jars, you can organize sewing supplies or hardware. Simply place buttons of the same color, zippers and bobbins into carefully labeled containers. If storing hardware, place different size screws, nails, nuts or bolts into their own jars. This will make finding what you need a straight-forward process.
