How to Clear Out Your Pantry

The food pantry in your kitchen should make it easier to find the food you need for your recipes. If you find that you are spending more time searching for ingredients than making your meals, it might be time to clear out the pantry and get off to a fresh start. Once you have gone through everything in your pantry, you can organize your food and make those items easier to find in the future.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove all the items from your pantry. Sort the items by expiration date, and discard any foodstuffs that have passed their "use by" dates.

    • 2

Go through the food packages you pulled out of the pantry and set aside the ones you no longer want. Contact your church or a local food pantry to donate those unwanted items.

    • 3

Sit the food you pulled from the pantry in an easily accessible location. Ask your family members to pick out the items they want for themselves. For instance, your kids might want to pack their favorite snack items or cereal for their school lunches.

    • 4

Place the items you want to keep back into the pantry. Arrange the items to make them easier to find.
